Corruption....a very much in discusssion topic these days. We all talk about corruption, and it holds a special place in reference to the Indian society. Ever wondered why? Why is it that we have so much corruption in every field of our lives? Why is it that our political system is so corrupt? why is it that our leaders are so corrupt? From where does this corruption come?
Amazingly, corruption comes from us.... our habits that we develop and slowly induce in our next progeny. To control a child throwing tantrums, we prefer to lure him/her for a chocolate, or an icecream, rather than imposing a slap on his/her cheek. To make a child do his homework, we bribe him for a new gift, or some applauding event, rather than making him realize, it is his duty. When a child doesn't complete his homework, and is scared to face his teacher and the consequences at school, we prefer to write out an excuse appliaction for him, or help him to cook up an excuse to avoid punishment, rather than allowing him to face the music. This is how corruption is born. A single act taken up maybe once becomes a habit gradually, and the habit of telling lies to escape punishment increases manifold in future times. A lie told to flee from responsibilities at home or school slowly extends to the office, society, and country. Laws tend to be broken and scams are an outcome. This vice of corruption cannot be uprooted by a single movement, it is a HABIT....and A HABIT CANNOT BE THROWN OUT, IT HAS TO BE COAXED DOWN THE STAIRS A STEP AT A TIME. What we teach our children today.....is what we shall see tomorrow.
